PicoPress provides a personal service by group of book lovers - technologists and designers, dedicated to the technology of the book; ancient, medieval, Open Source and free culture.
Hybrid books – at Picopress we can transform your project into any of the evolving book forms; Print on Demand books, eBook, Kindle, iPhone, iPad, Droid, Apps, social networks, web site, Amazon Search Inside, Google Books, LbraryThing, as Metadate and the list goes on.
Picopress importantly provides SEO and web analytic to monitor your publication across the web and social networking platforms, which can also be used to track the effectiveness of your other promotions, event and launches.
We can also take your book out into the sales and distribution channels; ISBN book store systems, Amazon, online distributors, eBook/Kindle, iTunes and iPhone apps market.
POD book printing
We provide a service to consult, setup and then manage a book title or library into digital print on demand book printing.

POD books can be produced in all types of formats and bindings, from your paperback novel to bespoke bindings and papers.
Book prices depend on the type and quantity and our consultancy fee varies depending on the number of titles and the extent of the work involved.
As a guide a per book unit price for a small paperback, black and white interior with colour covers would start at £2.00 per book.
Sales channel integration and ISBN book system setup – your publications can be placed into a variety of sales channels; Amazon, other online retailers like Barnes & Nobel etc, The Espresso Book Machine®, as well as your own PayPal e-commerce. Additionally we can integrate your book into the ISBN metadata directories and bookstore ISBN ordering directories.
There are a variety of ways your book can be sold online, fully automatic Amazon sales or via your own PalPal account, for example. The most convenient is where your book is listed online and as buyers purchase the book, their payment covers the printing and postage and you are sent the remaining fee.

eBooks, Kindle and iPhone books
Picopress can create a variety of eReader book formats, this can be from your DTP application, word processing document or PDF file. Once your reader book is ready we would place it into the relevant distribution and sales platform, providing you with reports and sales payments.
The eReader formats are a useful way to find new audiences and increase your revenue from existing book projects or in relationship to content be generated which might not suit the printed book form, like conference proceedings.
Reader statistics and sales reporting would be part of all eReader publishing packages.
Hybrid books
Your book can exist in a number of evolving formats that span print and digital, as well as channels for promotion and sales. Which formats and distribution channels you want to take up is obviously something you need to have tailored to your project's needs.
With the hybrid book combinations we would also look at SEO and analytic across your web presence; providing statistics on numbers of readers, conversion of readers to purchases and sales report.

Sales and web stats
Sales
Your publications can be placed into fully automatic sales, distribution and fulfilment channels, bookstore and online sales. We can also provide simple eCommerce sales features for your own website using PayPal or move onto more powerful packages such as Drupal Ubercart, Magenta or Googles product search.
We provide a variety of options for distribution through Amazon and all major online distributors.
For bookstore distribution we combine ISBN information publishing so that stores can order you titles, with contacts to specialist distributors and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software setup if needed.
Web stats
There are a variety of statistics for each of the platforms available for your publications giving you live usage and sales info on for example on sales channels like Amazon, POD book, websites, social network sites, Twitter, Apps and eBooks.
These stats can be used to monitor the effects of launches and promotions as well as online campaigns and email promotions.
The stats can also be tied into email and Twitter promotions to track specific URL promotions and sales discount codes.
Social networking
As well as multiple formats there are social network platforms for promoting and disseminating the book and combinations of formats to create new publishing and economic models for the book.

Book design, production and editorial
The Picopress team have years of experience in book design and layout, as well as production management and editorial specialities; proofing, style guides, indexing etc.
The book design work can extend from working with the latest POD digital print machines to sourcing bespoke hand bindings and finishing, where we would work closely with printers and binders that we have long standing relationships with.
The Picopress team have been in the POD business since 2005 and working with DTP print design since the days of Quark 1.0.
Our editorial services come from a network of freelancers that we have worked with over the years, all with established track records in their respective disciplines.
Consultancy
All of the services we provide can also be taken up as a consultancy for a quick health check or in depth review, to setting up your in house POD or eBooks production and management workflow and toolset.

Post and freight

File revision
- File revision cost will apply (depends on type of book being printed, but are £30 on average). A book is made up of two files, the cover and the book interior (book block).
